End Democracy to Save the World

Posted by greg2213 on January 5, 2011

It’s all about power and money. I wonder which position Dr. Shearman would take in the new regime? Can’t think of anyone on the current administration who’d disagree with him.

Professor David Shearman, MD, is Emeritus Professor of Medicine, University of Adelaide, and a Visiting Research Fellow at the University’s Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences and Law School.  Professor Shearman was an Assessor for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Third Assessment Report and the Fourth Assessment Report. (1)

Shearman has penned several books on global warming, such as ‘Climate Change as a Crisis in World Civilization: Why We Must Totally Transform How We Live‘ and ‘The Climate Change Challenge and the Failure of Democracy‘. His argument is that overpopulation and industrialization are causing an ecological disaster which requires a total change of lifestyle for everyone on the planet. As democracy isn’t up to the challenge, an authoritarian government must (obviously) be imposed to save us from ourselves.

IPCC Official Announces the Agenda

Posted by greg2213 on November 18, 2010

In the categories of: “Yes, they really said that,” and “the rumors are true” an IPCC official admits to the real agenda of the green crowd:

Climate policy has almost nothing to do anymore with environmental protection, says the German economist and IPCC official Ottmar Edenhofer. The next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated. – Ottmar Edenhofer

From WUWT: IPCC Official: “Climate Policy Is Redistributing The World’s Wealth”

And now we can smirk at the crowd that has been calling us paraniods and such as we admire the egg on their collectivist faces.

I expect the green side will fire this guy ASAP, but I think he should be retained. It’s refreshing to see his honesty and we’ll better be able to keep track of these people.

Update: A commenter says…

Almost twenty years ago, Maurice “Mr Carbon” Strong spilled all the beans about the true agenda of the environmentalist movement to the also Canadian prize-winner journalist Elaine Dewar. It’s all in her book “Cloak of Green
” (Toronto: James Lorimer, 1995), that is mandatory reading for the understanding of this stuff. Last January, Potsdam Institute’s Herr Hans Joachim Schellnhuber also admitted to Der Spiegel that he was – literally – the inventor of the 2 degree “magic limit” mentioned by his countryman Edenhofer. So, there’s nothing new in such “confessions,” they come out from the self-sufficiency and arrogance of those who regard themseleves as the self-appointed movers and shakers of the world.
another commenter understands how things work in the real world, away from the fantasies of the greens:
Well, of course we know how that wealth redistribution works: out of the pockets of working people, into the wallets of dictators, juntas and oligarchies, and then into the vaults of the banks.

Yes, Some Really Think That

Posted by greg2213 on November 9, 2010

Some of them, anyway. Much like the Islamic terrorists. Despite the claims of the apologists way too many are, at least, very sympathetic to the bombers/destroyers and the same seems to be true with the eco-movement. Too many think the 10:10 thing was funny and too many are in line with the other guy, below.

The best thing to do, I guess, is to keep letting daylight expose these people for what they are.

JoNova on the 10:10 stunt.

This colossal PR disaster was 20 years in the making, and it took a special set of conditions to achieve a true marketing black hole. Never before in the history of public relations has so much star-power, money and kudos been used to score such a monstrous global own-goal. The campaign to dehumanize skeptics laid the groundwork and somehow, fittingly, the eco-terrorists own name-calling has come back to bite them.

the rest: Mystery Solved: Why the PR hacks exploded their credibility

And what do you say about this other guy? The bin-Ladin of the eco-sect? Best friend of the 10:10 crowd? Pariah? Hero to a dangerous group of people? Wish I could believe that he’s just a singular, isolated, nutcase.

No, I don’t believe that the entirety of the eco-crowd is in-line with this guy. Probably most are appalled by him (and 10:10,) but like those other terrorists (the bin-Ladin crowd) too many are too sympathetic.

A Finnish environmentalist guru has gone further than any other global warming alarmist in openly calling for fascism as a necessary step to save the planet from ecological destruction, demanding that climate change deniers be “re-educated” in eco-gulags and that the vast majority of humans be killed with the rest enslaved and controlled by a green police state, with people forcibly sterilized, cars confiscated and travel restricted to members of the elite.

Philosopher Pentti Linkola has built an enthusiastic following of self-described “eco-fascists” receptive to his message that the state should enact draconian measures of “discipline, prohibition, enforcement and oppression” in order to make people comply with environmental dictates.

Linkola’s barbaric and dictatorial philosophy has remained relatively obscure but is now gaining traction as the mask of environmentalism is lifted to unveil its true nature – a justification for 21st century tyranny on a grand scale, characterized by eugenics, sterilization, gulags, police states, and total government control over every aspect of our existence.

They Say the Nicest Things

Posted by greg2213 on October 2, 2010

Climate Depot has a post on the nice things that the warm side says about the skeptical side. This is related to the 10:10 video, which is apparently funny if you’re both a warm side extremist and British.

A public appeal has been issued by an influential U.S. website asking: “At what point do we jail or execute global warming deniers.” The appeal appeared on Talking Points Memo, an often cited website that helps set the agenda for the political Left in the U.S. The anonymous posting, dated June 2, 2009, referred to dissenters of man-made global warming fears as “greedy bastards” who use “bogus science or the lowest scientists in the gene pool” to “distort data.”

Some Good Quotes About Climate Hysteria

Posted by greg2213 on August 14, 2010

Greenie watch

Good stuff. Here are a couple of the quotes, from his sidebar, grabbed without permission. 😉

I think this one very nicely explains the entirety of the various leftist ideologies and a few non-leftist ones.

“The desire to save humanity is always a false front for the urge to rule it” — H L Mencken

“In science, refuting an accepted belief is celebrated as an advance in knowledge; in religion it is condemned as heresy”. (Bob Parks, Physics, U of Maryland). No prizes for guessing how global warming skepticism is normally responded to.

More proof that CAGW isn’t science and has little to do with science.

Time was, people warning the world “Repent – the end is nigh!” were snickered at as fruitcakes. Now they own the media and run the schools.

The “precautionary principle” is a favourite Greenie idea — but isn’t that what George Bush was doing when he invaded Iraq? Wasn’t that a precaution against Saddam getting or having any WMDs? So Greenies (who believe in the PP) all agree with the Iraq intervention? If not, why not?

The precautionary principle also sates that we should attack Iran to end its nuclear program. We should also develop a space-based system to deflect any incoming asteroids (a hazard far more real than CAGW.)

There’s a lot of other interesting links from that page, too.

Quotes from the Green Side

Posted by greg2213 on July 9, 2010

Just for those who have doubts about certain agendas.  Sounds like an extremely totalitarian ideal to me. Of course, the elites would still live high on the hog while the rest of us peasants would scrape for our scraps.

“The goal now is a socialist, redistributionist society,
which is nature’s proper steward and society’s only hope.”
– David Brower,
founder of Friends of the Earth

“If we don’t overthrow capitalism, we don’t have a chance of
saving the world ecologically. I think it is possible to have
an ecologically sound society under socialism.
I don’t think it is possible under capitalism”
– Judi Bari,
principal organizer of Earth First!

“Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the
industrialized civilizations collapse?
Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?”
– Maurice Strong,
founder of the UN Environment Program

“A massive campaign must be launched to de-develop the
United States. De-development means bringing our
economic system into line with the realities of
ecology and the world resource situation.”
– Paul Ehrlich,
Professor of Population Studies

“The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another
United States. We can’t let other countries have the same
number of cars, the amount of industrialization, we have in the US.
We have to stop these Third World countries right where they are.”
– Michael Oppenheimer,
Environmental Defense Fund

“Global Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty,
reduced resource consumption and set levels of mortality control.”
– Professor Maurice King

“We must make this an insecure and inhospitable place
for capitalists and their projects. We must reclaim the roads and
plowed land, halt dam construction, tear down existing dams,
free shackled rivers and return to wilderness
millions of acres of presently settled land.”
– David Foreman,
co-founder of Earth First!

Somewhat related:

  • Anthroposophy and Ecofascism
  • Note quite so Green, perhaps, but it seems to be a perfect fit:“The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions. In this way the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed”
    Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf

The Greens Aren’t Very Nice, Are They?

Posted by greg2213 on May 27, 2010

Update 8/6/11:

Recently, radical environmentalists have waged a campaign to stifle free enterprise and economic freedom. Here are some of their recent skirmishes, ranging from crop destruction in Australia to attacks on toy companies like Lego and Disney…

Original Post:

C3 Headlines notes some of the things the alarmists have said about the skeptics. Brings back fond memories of the Spanish Inquisition… I guess they feel their gravy train is being threatened.

From:  Hate Unleashed: What’s Driving The Hate Speech & Violence Threats of Global Warmistas?

  • James Hansen of NASA wanted trials for climate skeptics,  accusing them of high crimes against humanity
  • Robert Kennedy Jr. called climate skeptics traitors
  • Yvo de Boer of the UN called climate skepticism criminally irresponsible
  • David Suzuki called for politicians who ignore climate science to be jailed
  • DeSmogBlog’s James Hoggan wants skeptics treated as war criminals (video)
  • Grist called for Nuremberg trials for skeptics
  • Joe Romm encourages the idea that skeptics will be strangled in their beds
  • A blogger at TPM pondered when it would be acceptable to execute climate deniers
  • Heidi Cullen of The Weather Channel called for skeptical forecasters to be decertified
  • Bernie Sanders compared climate skeptics to Nazi appeasers.
  • [Not to mention Greenpeace declaring that “they know where you live”] Here’s the current page, where Greeenpeace posts its case for “that quote was taken WAY out of context,”  and here’s an article regarding the original post. Hopefully GP took the writer into a dark back room and made it very clear to the fellow that their goal is to win hearts and minds, not spit on them. Personally, I think they took him into the party room and gave him a round of “high-fives.”

ClimateQuotes collects, you guessed it, quotes from other wild and wacky alarmist types. For example, here’s their Al Gore page.

And then, there are various other quotes by various extreme types…

Let’s not forget the 10:10 video. These are such lovely people.
